About Mango Hill Progress Association

Role of Mango Hill Progress Association

The Mango Hill Progress Association (Inc) has, since 1986, been recognised as an advocate for Mango Hill and North Lakes residents on a wide range of logistical, social and infrastructure issues that require consideration in this, one of Australia’s fastest growing communities. The Association has successfully lobbied all levels of Government on issues of community interest and continues to achieve much by meeting regularly, discussing local issues and acting together.

Through this site, our Facebook Pages –  https://www.facebook.com/mangohillprogress/and our monthly meetings (held on 3rd Wed of the month) we provide the forum and opportunity for input and discussion of important issues currently affecting our local community.

The Mango Hill Progress Association is respected for its community involvement in local events such as festivals, youth programs, annual Christmas Carols and fundraising activities for both this community and charitable organizations.

The Mango Hill Progress Association initiated and developed the facilities now located in Danzy Buchanan Park (Kinsellas Road West) with the assistance of various government programs. The Associaton manages the operations of the Mango Hill Community Centre (Hall, Tennis Court, Basketball Court) on behalf of the Moreton Bay Regional Council.

Our Association continues to encourage residents in Mango Hill and North Lakes to take an interest in their community and contribute when and where possible. This website seeks to keep all local residents informed of current issues and events. The Association invites readers to participate and benefit from the resources made available to you through this website. Please see our calendar of events for the upcoming meeting date. We look forward to your active participation in your community.

Spirit of Christmas Shines in Mango Hill

It was a wonderful night of family entertainment on 16th December for the 32nd Annual Mango Hill Christmas Carols.   To each and every person who contributed in any way or assisted the Association to make the Mango Hill Christmas Tree Carols possible, THANK YOU!   You have helped bring the Spirit of Christmas to your Community. You are Amazing!

You only have to look at the crowds which rolled into Danzy Buchanan Park, the faces of the children, the smiles of Mums & Dads as they munched on burgers, snags & cakes or listened to the woops of delight as Kids (big and small) descended the Giant Slide, who sat on Santa’s knee or held the farm animals, to know your every effort was appreciated. Then there was the quality entertainment/Carols Program led by Louise Winton and Dale Tokely that rounded off a family night that displayed the Spirit of Christmas. Whether, you were in the High Top (Burger Tent), selling raffle tickets or providing Tea/Coffee and Cakes over in the Moreton Bay Tent, your commitment was significant.

To ALL our Sponsors any many Community Groups (inc Father Dan & his team from Lakes Anglican Church) as well as performers, we thank you for your contribution to the 2017 Mango Hill Christmas Carols Program.

The Annual Christmas Hamper Raffle was another great success due to the generousity of residents who donated items for the 27 Hamper Baskets raffled off on the night.  You have continued a wonderful Tradition that started with just one basket at the first Carols back in 1986, with all funds raised helping to pay for the free rides for the children.

The Progress Association welcomes interest from businesses who wish to partner with our Association in spreading the Joy of Christmas to all the Community.  (Contact Laurence on 0415 342 007  – admin@mangohillprogress.org)

Merry Christmas & Thank You!

Merry Christmas to ALL.   A special “Thank you” goes to each and every resident, supporter, sponsor and Volunteer for your terrific contribution to another Mango Hill Christmas Carols in the Park.

From Russell Bremner (Food Tent Coordinator)

Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who graciously have their time & effort in staffing the food and drinks Tent at the Mango Hill Carols. Also, a special “Thank You” goes to all the patrons who “pic-nicked” in the park and who cleaned up so beautifully as you left. There was not a paper or piece of litter in sight when I walked out with my wheelie bin to clean up.  Weather permitting, I look forward to seeing back at Danzy Buchanan Park for Christmas Carols 2017.

Mango Hill Village Christmas Carols

Commencing in 1986 as a small village celebration for the local children by the fledgling Mango Hill Progress Association, the Annual Mango Hill Christmas Tree Carols (held in the outdoors in Danzy Buchanan Park, Mango Hill Village) has now developed into a Regional celebration of the Spirit of Christmas, attracting residents from across the Moreton Bay Region & beyond.

The Mango Hill Christmas Tree Carols are included in the Moreton Bay Regional Council and MBRIT Festival of Christmas Events calendar and regularly attract over 1000 patrons.

The Progress Association in partnership with Mueller Community Church and many local community groups are delighted to provide a program of family fun which includes:

· afternoon picnic game &, free rides for the kids, face painting and family priced food/catering
· the much anticipated visit by Santa handing out sweets to the children, followed by
· an evening Carols & Musical performers, culminating in the splendour of:
· KC’s Fireworks bonanza that always thrills the multitude of patrons watching from across the park.

A unique Village Tradition that has stood the decades of time has been the annual Christmas Hamper Raffle of up to 25 Baskets all donated by the residents of the Village which along with donations from our sponsors, assists the Progress Association in financing the range of free activities for families.

The Mango Hill Progress Association sincerely acknowledges & appreciates the support of our many sponsors who make this much loved and anticipated Christmas Celebration a reality for the community at large.

30th Anniversary MHPA

Mango Hill Progress Association 30th Anniversary Celebration

Mango Hill Progress Association proudly celebrated its 30th Anniversary on Saturday, 16th July with a Dinner Dance.

Guests of the Mango Hill Progress Association were invited to the Community Hall for a Spit-Roast dinner and night of dance and entertainment, featuring the wonderful Moreton Celtic Fiddle and local Folk Singer, Dave Norman.

The night was a fantastic community get-together with foundation members, The Dolleys, The Mackenzies and The Christies attending along with Former Mayor, Yvonne Chapman.

Our History

Back In 1986, the Mango Hill Village community had less than 100 houses and was a small outpost in the forest, in the north-east of the then Shire of Pine
Rivers, somewhere east of the “Great Divide” (the Bruce Highway) with dirt roads and very few amenities with no voice on how to improve.

Now, the Mango Hill Progress Association is well-respected by Government, local businesses and the general community, as the voice of local residents in seeking to enhance the quality of life in Mango Hill and North Lakes, and for bringing the community together with regular social events through the commitment of a wonderful team of volunteers.

Mango Hill Celebrates Australia Day 2016

On Saturday 23rd January Danzy Buchanan Park came alive with Aussie Day Music and Family Fun.

Community spirit was alive and well as some 800 Mango Hill residents and visitors celebrated our national day with Aussie music from “Black Heather”, kids games, free rides, food tents and the fantastic KC’s Fireworks show which appeared to “shoot” the full moon out of the night sky.

In addition to our regular and valued volunteers, we were pleased have State Member Chris Whiting and Community Police Sergent Kerry Edwards (and husband Andrew), serving burgers to the hungry locals.

KC's Fireworks Display in Mango HillOver on the oval, new resident Gavin Warner of Boost Tuition coordinated the picnic games and childrens’ activities including a thong throwing contest, whilst Boost Boy the mascot, rode the giant slide with the young kids.

Thanks to our many generous sponsors, the Progress Association was able to co-ordinate this additional community event following the cancellation of the traditional Mango Hill Christmas Carols on 12th December 2015.

Special thanks goes to the Mango Hill Market Place, Moreton Bay Regional Council, LJ Hooker and our volunteers who made this event the success it was.
